Jodi L. Sutherland, PhD, RN, ACNR, CNE
Assistant Professor
Background
Jodi Sutherland has been a nurse for more than 20 years. Her nursing practice experiences have been in both hospital and community settings.
She began her career on a hospital cardiac surgical unit following completion of her nurse residency program.
After five years of acute care practice, Sutherland transitioned to a community health setting, where she worked as a public health nurse and a home care nurse. She says practicing as a nurse in the community was life changing and transformational to her career.
As a public health nurse, Sutherland learned to investigate, educate and advocate for individuals and populations in health restoration, support and promotion.
She earned her PhD in 2015 and has been a full-time clinical assistant professor in the Decker School of Nursing since then.
