Background

Berling has taught EDD 307 Ecology for Engineers for the Sustainability Engineering Minor since fall 2015. She is also an adjunct faculty in the Geology and Environmental Studies Department while working full-time for the City of Binghamton as director of planning, housing and community \development. Berling previously served as planning commissioner for the City of Binghamton and the director of environmental sustainability and stewardship for the Department of Green Initiatives at Lourdes Memorial Hospital.

Berling has received numerous awards, including the Practice GreenHealth Partner Recognition Award, Who’s Who in America Listing, Department of Energy Meritorious Performance Award, and Secretary of Energy Gold Medal Award.

Berling received her BS in environmental science from Binghamton University; MS in environmental science and law from Baylor University; and her PhD in urban and regional science from Texas A&M University.
