If you wish to transfer your SEVIS record FROM Binghamton University TO another U.S. institution, you will need to request that ISSS transfer the record. For F-1 students, your SEVIS record must be transferred within 60 days of the end date on your I-20 OR 60 days from the end date on your OPT. Your start date at the new school must be within 5 months of your last day of attendance at Binghamton University or within 5 months of the end date of your OPT.
Please note the following important information:
- Do not submit a transfer out form unless you are sure that you will attend the new school.
- You cannot cancel a transfer request after the SEVIS release date. Once the release date is reached, your SEVIS record will be automatically transferred to the new school and ISSS will not be able to cancel it.
- If you are currently working on campus or are approved for OPT or STEM OPT, your work authorization ends on the release date.
