If you will be leaving Binghamton University before the end date on your I-20 or DS-2019, you must notify ISSS. Possible reasons for leaving early include graduation, completing your program early, taking a leave of absence, withdrawing from the university, or transferring to another institution.
Please note that if you are currently on OPT or STEM OPT, ISSS will complete your SEVIS record, and your work authorization will end immediately.
How to notify ISSS
Submit the Departure Form
You must submit the Departure Form online. You will need to provide the following information:
- Reason for departure
- Date of departure
- Current mailing address in case ISSS needs to reach you after your departure
ISSS will review and process your request
You will receive an email from ISSS when your request has been processed; please allow 3-5 business days for processing. In most cases, your SEVIS record will be completed and your F-1 or J-1 status will end.
If you have questions about your plans to leave Binghamton University early, please email isss@binghamton.edu or meet with an ISSS advisor during walk-in advising hours.
