Mission Statement
Digital Scholarship in the libraries engages with and supports campus community partners working with and exploring digital technologies to create and sustain scholarly and pedagogical pursuits.
Vision
Digital Scholarship values community centered and engaged decision making that fosters true collaborative efforts. We strive to balance innovative practice while supporting sustainable, accessible, and open technologies while remaining critically engaged in ethical and inclusive discourse to create an open and innovative digital scholarship community on Binghamton’s campus.
Summary
The Digital Scholarship team in the Libraries consists of three team members. A Head of Digital Scholarship and two Digital Scholarship Librarians. Digital Scholarship at Binghamton is more than just a center; we’re a vibrant hub empowering scholars to create, share, and enhance their work through digital scholarship. We offer support for project based learning through media creation and communication (websites, dashboards) as well as advanced research support for digital project development. Following three service ‘buckets’ of platform, praxis and community we endeavor to serve our community across physical, virtual and community spaces.

History
The Digital Scholarship Center began as a collaborative effort between Harpur College and the Libraries to address trends in humanities scholarship and fields to integrate more digital methods and tools into research and pedagogy. Growing from a task force, to singular Librarian to a team of Librarians and a physical Center the Digital Scholarship Team now serves disciplines and offices across campus bringing digital and data literacies and expertise to all.
