15 Events in Binghamton to Fill Your Summer of Fun
Binghamton is a packed with fun things to do during the summer months. If you are staying in town this season, you can take advantage of the warm weather and explore state parks and hiking trails in the area. To really amp up the fun, check out some of these festivals and events happening soon.
Strawberry Festival
The famous Strawberry Festival in Owego returns for its 40th anniversary after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. Kick off a weekend of excitement with the block party and fireworks on Friday, June 17. Enjoy the parade Saturday morning and continue the fun with vendors, crafts and live music. Do not forget to try one of the delicious strawberry desserts and treats!
Nitro Circus
Embrace your inner daredevil while watching the stunts at the Nitro Circus this summer. World-class athletes will come to Mirabito Stadium to compete in FMX, BMS, Skateboarding and more when this famous circus visits Binghamton on June 18.
Broome Bands Together Concert Series
Dance along or relax and listen to live music at a free summer-long concert series. The family-friendly concerts will be held every Tuesday from June 7 to Aug. 16 at Otsiningo Park. The lineup includes Beard of Bees, Devon Lawton & The Inlaws, and more talented bands.
Juneteenth Celebration
Commemorate 157 years since the emancipation of enslaved people at Assata Shakur Park. The Binghamton Juneteenth Committee is hosting a celebration at noon with free food, music and activities. This year’s theme is Liberate, Educate and Elevate, which organizers hope everyone keeps in mind this Juneteenth.
Anderson Center Summer Concert Series
See concerts all summer long at the Anderson Center for the Performing Arts. The Summer Concert Series kicks off with George Thorogood & The Destroyers on June 21. Reserve seats with friends or hang out on the lawn and listen to some great rock & roll. The Anderson Center will host other bands in the Osterhout Concert Theater throughout the summer, so be sure to check out the concert dates and buy tickets on their website.
Faerie Festival
Enter a world of fantasy and magic at this summer’s Faerie Festival. Jugglers, puppeteers, actors and the Faerie Queen will wander the gardens, forests and troll bridge at the event site. The weekend-long festival begins on June 24 and includes parades, a jousting tournament, live music and face-painted fairy princesses.
July 4th Extravaganza
Celebrate the Fourth of July with barbeque, festivities, food and crafts at Endwell Park for the July 4th Extravaganza. End the night watching the spectacular firework show light up the night sky.
Harper M. Stantz Music Fest
Spend a Sunday afternoon at the fourth annual Harper M. Stantz Music Fest and admire local artists’ work and enjoy live music from regional bands. Bring a blanket to the free event on July 10 and relax to blues and funky music.
The Sauce Boss
Watch Bill Wharton play the blues in his one-man band while he cooks a pot of gumbo onstage. The Sauce Boss serves up bowls of gumbo at the end of the show and has performed all across the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. Enjoy his music and try a serving of his legendary gumbo on July 15, and check out more shows at the Firehouse Stage.
Deposit Lumberjack Festival
Show off your lumberjack skills in competitions and games at the Deposit Lumberjack Festival. The non-profit organization will hold its annual festival on the third weekend in July, and there will be opportunities for fun for everyone with carnival rides, horse rides, book sales and live music.
Broome County Fair
Hop on a ferris wheel and play carnival games at Broome County’s annual agricultural fair at Whitney Point. The fair will run from July 26 to July 31 and will include tractor pulls, demolition derbies, bull riding and tons of action-packed fun.
Binghamton Bridge Pedal
If you love racing or leisurely riding a bike, sign up with friends or family to participate in the Binghamton Bridge Pedal on August 13. Ride along the riverside trails through Binghamton’s parks and enjoy the warm summer breeze.
Dick’s Sporting Goods Open
Lovers of golf can attend the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open and celebrate over 40 years of professional golf and the 12th anniversary of the event. Watch pro-golfers compete at the En-Joie Golf Course and then head on over for Zac Brown Band’s only performance in all of Central and Western New York this summer.
Spiedie Fest
Spiedie Fest, a summertime favorite, returns to its usual August dates this year at Otsiningo Park. Taste-test all the different spiedies, enjoy the hot air balloon rally and listen to live music at this fun-filled festival.
Binghamton Porchfest
End the summer and kick off a great semester wandering through the West Side of Binghamton at Porchfest on Aug. 28. Discover local and student bands as they perform covers and original music on lawns and porches downtown.
