8 New Things Coming to Campus Dining This Spring

Binghamton University Dining Services (BUDS) is always looking for new and exciting ways to reinvent and evolve our services on campus. We have been busy getting ready to re-open the spring semester with some new and exciting concepts that are sure to make your taste ‘BUDS’ come back for more! Here are some of our exciting new additions!

Gourmet Milkshakes

Gourmet Milkshakes

BUDS has concocted a delicious menu of Insta-worthy, gourmet milkshakes available at the new Parkway Shakes in the MarketPlace. Our handblended milkshakes are made with Hershey’s® ice cream, served in a frosted rimmed cup, topped with decadent desserts—and are sure to bring all the Bearcats to the yard! Parkway Shakes offers over eight milkshake varieties to choose from, including a Vegan Strawberry milkshake made with Planet Oat® Oatmilk ice cream and the Bearcat Pride, a refreshing green mint chip ice cream milkshake made with chocolate sauce, Nutella, Oreos, Baxter sprinkles and whipped cream. School spirit never tasted so sweet! The menu at Parkway Shakes also offers other dessert staples like assorted cookies; you can even create your own ice cream cookie sandwich with the ice cream flavors offered on our milkshake menu!

A breakfast and burger menu that is out of this world

Breakfast burger from the dining hall

Cakes & Eggs has been rebranded to Breakfast, Burgers & Beyond. The station will continue to offer what is arguably considered the best breakfast in the ‘Univers-ity’, including fresh breakfast sandwiches and customizable breakfast platters, all available until late morning. A unique, gourmet burger menu with tasty sides will replace the breakfast menu. Some of the burger choices include a Bloody Mary Burger, Mac & Cheese Burger, Buffalo Bleu Burger, and the Brunchy Burger made with thick cut bacon, melted brie cheese, blackberry jam, arugula, and served between two slices of French toast. Our burger menu rotates every 2 weeks to make room for other burgers that are out of this world, so you are going to want to try them before they’re gone! Beyond Burger patties are available for non-meat eaters, and always available is a good, old-fashioned American Burger. Beyond our cosmic burgers and sandwiches, be on the look-out for an occasional pop-up menu special!

A Chipotle-inspired menu

Meal plan food

This semester we decided to bring a little heat to the Chenango Room with Serrano, a Chipotle-inspired menu where diners can build their own burritos and bowls, taco salads, and street tacos! Now you can get your taco, burrito, and give-me-all-the-chips-and-dip fix for lunch from Monday through Friday at the Chenango Room.

A new food court at the Health Sciences Campus

Decker Building

The new Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences building is opening in downtown Johnson City, and we are looking forward to serving the faculty, staff and students at the Health Sciences Campus. The building will feature a beautiful, industrial-style food court where we will offer We Proudly Serve Starbucks® coffee beverages, hot breakfast favorites, Kalamata (an authentic made-to-order Mediterranean food concept), grab-n-go meals and more.

New entrees, sides and options you asked for

Dining Hall workers

You asked for more entrées and sides, we listened! You asked for more menu options, we listened! You asked for…ok you get it! BUDS has worked around-the-clock over the winter break to add and increase variety at our breakfast, lunch and dinner periods. These new menu options will be found daily at the hot lines in all dining halls and at Simple Servings – our allergen-friendly station at C4 and Appalachian Dining Hall. Our pizza stations will also offer another specialty pizza, adding to their daily assortment of choices.

A new station featuring your dining hall favorites

Hot Dog

This semester we will introduce B-Cuisine: Student’s Choice at Appalachian Dining Hall. Chef Thomas Dello spends a lot of time talking to students who frequent his dining hall. This new station concept was developed from the feedback Chef Dello received from students in the Fall 2020 semester. The menu at B-Cuisine is comprised of your dining hall food favorites. The station will feature a menu of indulgent, craveable meals and snacks like Ben & Jerry milkshakes, beef and tofu Philly cheesesteaks, taco salad bowls, hot dogs with a variety of toppings, pancakes and French toast on the weekends, and more.

More vegan options at Gifts from the Garden

Vegan foods

Gifts from the Garden is an exclusively vegan station at CIW Dining Hall. We have increased the variety offered at Gifts from the Garden, offering a Build-Your-Own Hot Pot and a Sweet and Savory Sweet Potato Toast as part of the weekly rotating menu of nutritious, well-balanced meals. Here is the menu at Gifts from the Garden:

Monday: Sizzling Salads

Tuesday: Vegan Tacos and Taco Bowls

Wednesday: Grain Bowls

Thursday: Vegan Hot Pot

Friday: Southwest Sweet Potato Toast

Your favorite Kosher Korner dishes

Kosher Corner

Our team used the results tabulated from a fall survey administered by students and Rabbi Benny, Kosher Korner Rabbi, to develop a new menu for the Kosher Korner in C4 Dining Center. The rotating menu includes more of the students’ preferences. An additional Kosher entrée and sides have also been added to breakfast, lunch and dinner.
