10 Fun Things to Do in Binghamton This Fall

Autumn is a beautiful season, especially in Binghamton. The multi-colored foliage, brisk weather and stack of popular holidays makes fall truly special. Here in Binghamton, we have so much to offer to supplement my favorite time of year. Get out there and have fun by trying some of these things!

Join a club or organization

Clubs make for a solid addition to your resume. You could also meet some lifelong friends. I’ve heard great things about the Binghamton Stand-Up Club, as well as the Production and Mixing group. Take the club-match quiz to find out which ones are best for you!

Play an intramural sport

Intramural sports are a great way to meet new people and stay active. Registration is open for flag football, arena flag football, soccer, volleyball and handball. These leagues are perfect for someone like me, who isn’t an elite athlete, but still wants to play. The environment is welcoming due its laid-back, yet semi-competitive nature. There are a couple tournaments offered, as well.

Sit around a campfire and enjoy s’mores

Hang out with friends and make some new ones while snacking on some s’mores! This event will take place at the Mountainview Fire Pit, one of my favorite spots on campus.

Take a hike in the Nature Preserve

There’s no better time to hike than the fall! The weather is ideal and the leaves are changing in front of our very eyes. Go solo or grab some buddies and take in the stunning view of our 190-acre Nature Preserve.

Have a blast during Family Weekend

I love showing my family what it’s like to be a Bearcat. Binghamton’s largest undergraduate event of the year for parents and families is a ton of fun. Countless on-campus events will give your family an idea of how excellent it is to be a student at Binghamton.

Come to the Binghamton Block Party

This event signals the beginning of Homecoming Weekend. Enjoy some food, listen to some music and hang out with your friends. It’ll be a blast!

Attend the Fall Festival

With thousands of students, friends and alumni present, have some fun at the Fall Festival during Homecoming. Food will be provided and you’re welcome to bring your own beverages. Be sure to wear green!

Cheer on our sports teams

Attending sports games is one of my favorite activities. I love watching a big play and listening to the synchronized eruption of the crowd. If you’re into sports, we have a few options for you this fall: soccer, volleyball, golf, tennis, basketball, swim, and cross country teams. Check out the schedule, find a few games to attend and cheer on our Bearcats!

Celebrate Friendsgiving

In case you haven’t heard, Friendsgiving is a 21st century holiday in which you have a Thanksgiving dinner with your friends. I plan on trying it out this year. Before you go home for Thanksgiving break, have a big meal from the dining hall or make your own with your best friends and celebrate this new holiday!

Pet some puppies to prepare for finals

Hang out with Project Paw’s therapy dogs to relax before a potentially stressful time in the semester. I can’t think of anything more relaxing than petting a pup.
