Maggie Chan Jones ’96, founder and CEO of Tenshey Inc., will be the speaker at the 32nd annual Abraham J. Briloff Lecture Series on Accountability and Society.
The event, sponsored by the Binghamton University School of Management, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Anderson Center Chamber Hall.
Her talk is titled Ethical Leadership in the Age of Disruptive Technologies.
About Maggie Chan Jones ’96
Jones is the founder and CEO of Tenshey Inc., a tech-enabled, executive coaching company that helps women advance into leadership roles. She is a seasoned C-level executive, board director, CMO advisor and angel investor who specializes in marketing, business transformation and technology.
Previously, she was the first woman to become CMO at SAP, where she was responsible for global advertising and brand experience, sponsorships, audience marketing, strategic events, and field- and partner-marketing functions across more than 180 countries. During her tenure, Jones led the brand transformation of SAP as it became the world’s 21st most valuable brand. She also was an executive sponsor for diversity and inclusion, and a member of the SAP Innovation Roundtable.
Prior to joining SAP, Jones served as the inaugural CMO of the North America region at Level 3 Communications. She also worked at Microsoft, where she was the marketing director of U.S. Cloud Services and Office 365, and held leadership and marketing positions at Sun Microsystems and ADIC.
Recognized as an industry thought-leader in technology and marketing, Jones has a deep commitment to strengthening leadership teams and creating a more inclusive, gender-equal corporate landscape. She was a recipient of the Women of the Decade in Marketing, Branding and Communication award by Women Economic Forum in 2018, was named one of the top 20 World’s Most Influential CMOs by Forbes in 2017 and was acknowledged for creativity and storytelling by the CMO Club Awards.
Jones received her bachelor’s degree in management from Binghamton University’s School of Management. She earned her MBA from Cornell University, where she serves on the board of directors for the Johnson NYC Club. In 2019, Jones was appointed to the Board of Directors at cybersecurity software company Avast. She resides in New York City with her husband and Charlie, their miniature poodle.
About the Briloff Lecture
The Briloff Lecture series brings together accounting and business professionals with campus communities to contemplate topics of business ethics.
Initiated in 1985, the annual series is named in honor of the late Abraham Briloff, LHD ‘84, the Emanuel Saxe distinguished professor emeritus at Baruch College and presidential professor of accounting and ethics at Binghamton University, who was recognized as the ethical conscience for the business and accounting professions.
