On Feb. 11, Binghamton University announced that an anonymous donor family made the largest single gift ever to support the University and its NCAA Division I baseball program.

The family’s $60 million commitment will fully fund the development of a new Baseball Stadium Complex at Binghamton, with construction of the 84,000-square-foot facility expected to be completed in spring 2021, in time for next year’s baseball season.

Video renderings of the project, video of the Feb. 11 press conference and details about the stadium amenities and baseball program are available online.

Donors are also supporting areas of campus beyond athletics. For example, James B. Bankoski ‘91 and his wife, Heather, made a commitment to help fund a new D-Coding Project to support students in the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science. The initiative is intended to expose female and underrepresented minority undergraduate and graduate students to technical coding skills training and coding skills training. Previous support from the Bankoskis is helping to launch the Binghamton Codes! Program, which will give undergraduate students the opportunity to learn coding skills even if they are not majoring in computer science.

A gift from Barbara S. Ginsberg ‘77 and her husband, Ira Schreck, will be used to establish the Excellence in Performing Arts Scholarship, which will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student majoring in theater acting or musical acting. Additional scholarship criteria apply, including demonstrated financial need.
