The Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence are SUNY system-level honors that recognize consistently superior professional achievement and encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence in several categories: adjunct teaching; classified service; faculty service; librarianship; professional service; scholarship and creative activities; and teaching.

Binghamton University also recognizes exceptional work with a number of University and Provost’s awards for excellence in international education, undergraduate research mentoring and outstanding graduate director, and the Binghamton Council/Foundation Award.

“Recognizing the winners of the Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence and our other major University awards is a highlight of the year for me,” said President Harvey Stenger. “It is a visible and strong reminder of the quality of the faculty and staff we have at Binghamton University. I am grateful to these individuals for their dedication to the University’s missions of education and research and look forward to a time when we can celebrate their achievements in person.”

“The individuals being honored with these awards set an aspirational standard for others,” said Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Donald Neiman. “I thank them for their generous gifts of their time and talent that help make Binghamton University a stellar institution of public higher education and am proud that we can honor them with these awards.”

Though the campus traditionally holds a recognition dinner each October to honor recipients, it is not possible this year due to the pandemic. The University hopes to have an event in the future to honor the recipients’ excellence in person.

All award recipients receive a certificate and a $1,000 check. Chancellor’s Award recipients also receive a medallion.
