Donors provide crucial support for students

Donors are helping to maximize student success at Binghamton University, including by supporting scholarships and emergency funding this past summer.
- Andrew R. Mancini Associates Inc. established the endowed Andrew R. Mancini Associates Scholarship to support undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need who are from Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga or Tompkins county. Preference will be given to students in the School of Management.
- Howard D. Unger ’82, LHD ’19, and his wife, Caryn, created the endowed Saw Mill Capital Opportunity Business Scholarship to benefit incoming first-year students in the School of Management. Recipients will be underrepresented minority students with demonstrated financial need who are New York state residents. Preference will be given to female African-American students. The scholarship is renewable, provided the recipient continues to meet eligibility criteria, including the 3.0 minimum GPA requirement.
- Stephen D. Raich, MS ’78, and his wife, Toby, continued their support of the Stephen D. Raich ’78 Family Scholarship. The scholarship, which was established in 2017, is awarded to selected School of Management students majoring in accounting who have demonstrated financial need.
- Donors such as Lisa C. Beck and Shari Lawrence Pfleeger ’70, LHD ’00, and her husband, Charles, gave to the Binghamton University Student Emergency Fund. Emergency funding recipients have included students who needed immediate help paying rent and other living expenses because of unforeseen circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pfleegers designated that their support help students in Harpur College of Arts and Sciences. Beck’s support may be used to help any Binghamton student.
