Binghamton University Dining Services, fall 2020
Dining services opened the fall semester for returning students will limited seating in all facilities. All meals are served in carryout containers, but are produced fresh daily and prepackaged in the newly renovated Commissary as needed to enhance speed of delivery with the same quality ingredients and student favorites as in past semesters. Touchless payment is available at all points of sale.
While we are still serving a large population, the hybrid class model has had a significant impact on the foot-traffic patterns we are used to, and as of the second week of classes, with the support and guidance of the Student Culinary Council, our team has been responsive by making quick changes to better accommodate the needs of the campus community, including:
- adjusting our menu cycle to include more vegan and vegetarian options.
- offering a larger variety of cost-effective menu items.
- reverting to our former style of service at the entrée line, Kosher Korner and Simple Servings stations, allowing students to customize their meals.
- offering more flexibility in choices, price points and portion sizes.
- offering mobile ordering in select retail locations throughout campus including Einstein’s Bagel, Tully’s, CopperTop and Chick-N-Bap.
- adding expanded pasta offerings and a salad toss in CIW.
Also of note, as of Friday, Sept. 25, Binghamton University Dining Services had served more than 2,761 meals to quarantined and isolated students.
