The Binghamton Athletics Department has announced its 2021 induction class into the National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma). The 70 student-athletes form the largest class in the 16 years that the Athletics Department has sponsored such inductions.

To be eligible for induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, student-athletes must have achieved junior academic standing by their fifth semester, have attained at least a 3.4 cumulative grade point average and have participated in a sport sponsored by the NCAA.

“We are very proud of each of these student-athletes,” Binghamton Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott said. “They represent the ideal student-athlete and embody the best of Binghamton University.”

“It is a huge honor to be a part of the National College Honor Society,” men’s track & field junior Jake Restivo said. “There are often days when being a full-time athlete and student forces us to manage our time to the best of our ability. That balance can prove very stressful, so it is extremely rewarding to have these efforts recognized. I’m proud to represent Binghamton athletically and academically.”

“I’m excited to be a part of the National College Athlete Honor Society Class,” women’s basketball sophomore Cassidy Roberts said. “Balancing academics and athletics can be challenging, but the support from my family, friends, teammates, and coaches have made it so much more manageable. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to compete at this level and pursue a degree that I’m passionate about.”

Since its inception in 2006, 559 Binghamton student-athletes have been inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma.
