Move-Out Project collects 9,000 pounds of donations for local charities

During move out (May 12 through 22), Binghamton University Residential Life paired with the local Sierra Club to collect 9,008 pounds of donated canned food, kitchenware, personal care items, books, clothing and school supplies for charities. Instead of throwing them out, on-campus residents were able to donate their unused items that were sorted and distributed to organizations including The Children’s Home, Lee Barta Community Center, the Addiction Center of Broome County, Binghamton Food Rescue, RISE, Binghamton Sister City Project (El Charcon), Broome Tioga Workforce and Friends of the Library. In addition to these mostly local charities, the Sierra Club was able to fill a car with food donations that was sent to aid families from the mass shooting in Buffalo and also collected items to ship to Ukraine.
