New leadership for alumni engagement
Matthew M. Winston Jr., joined Binghamton University May 10 as executive director for alumni engagement and he serves as the University’s chief alumni engagement officer, providing leadership to the alumni office team.
Winston, a seasoned advancement professional and consultant with more than 30 years of higher education experience, is the founder and principal of The Winston Advisory Pack consulting firm, focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion strategies for institutional advancement organizations. He previously served as the senior associate vice president for alumni relations at Virginia Tech. Prior to that, he spent 15 years as assistant to the president at the University of Georgia, where he also was acting director of the Office of Institutional Diversity.
Winston has served as president of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association Board of Directors, an international trustee for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and chair of CASE’s Minority Advancement Institute in 2017 and 2019. He replaces Kimberly Faber, who retired from Binghamton University in December 2021.
