Binghamton University’s graduate programs in education and public administration have ranked among the best in the nation.

The programs, housed in the University’s College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) made the top 100 for their respective areas in U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-24 best graduate schools rankings.

“I’m thrilled that the excellence of CCPA’s graduate programs is reflected in the U.S. News rankings,” said CCPA Dean Laura Bronstein. “We at Binghamton are aware of the quality of these programs and their faculty, staff, students and alumni, and we are glad that the rest of the world gets to know as well.”

Binghamton University ranked number 83 for its education graduate programs, moving up over 15 spots from last year’s ranking of 100. It’s a major jump for the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership (TLEL), which offers a wide range of programs for professionals at all levels of education, including new flexible online options.

“This is a testament to the work of our faculty, staff and community partners, who all work collaboratively to ensure a quality education in the fields of teaching and educational leadership,” said Matthew McConn, TLEL department chair and associate professor.

Binghamton’s public administration program came in at number 72 on this year’s ranking of public affairs programs. Graduates of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program have gone on to become leaders in both the public and nonprofit sectors.

“I am delighted that Binghamton University’s Master of Public Administration program is ranked among the best graduate programs in the nation,” said Komla Dzigbede, Department of Public Administration chair and associate professor. “This achievement reflects the outstanding work of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, advisory board members and community partners.”

While social work programs were not included in this year’s ranking, CCPA’s social work program was most recently ranked by U.S. News at number 62 in 2022.
