Several ongoing projects are advancing and some additional projects have gotten underway as the summer construction season progresses. Renovation of the Information Booth, which is part of the Charlene and Roger Kramer Welcome Center project, is advancing along with work to create an additional access point to Lot G1. The center itself is now enclosed, windows are installed and roofing and siding work is taking place along with interior construction.

The Old Rafuse renovation project site has been expanded to include an adjacent parking lot that is being expanded and will include new pedestrian paths. New windows have been installed and interior work to create new rooms and facilities for student living is ongoing.

The Library renovation site has been busy with additional crane work bringing new mechanical equipment to the facility. Work to connect the third floor to the exterior stair tower is also taking place and an emergency generator has been installed. Interior renovations also continue.

Some major projects began right after Commencement. The Science 3, phase 1 renovation project is in the initial stage of asbestos abatement and demolition. This critical maintenance project will renovate almost 45,000 square-feet of space in the middle portion of Science 3. Nearby, renovation to the research greenhouse is underway. The project involves cleaning and resealing the glass, replacing the siding and installing new fans, vents, shades and screening. Work is scheduled to wrap up in November.

The replacement of an old section of a high temp hot water line is affecting the area between the Library Tower and Science 1. The goal is to have most of the disrupted area buttoned up prior to the start of fall classes. Roofing work is underway at the University Union and the Technology Hub. Work on The Union roof should wrap up this summer and completion of the Technology Hub roof is anticipated in the fall. Repairs and maintenance of the Parking Structure, which began last summer, picked up again this year targeting additional areas. The work involves resurfacing the ramp from the first to second level, drainage work, painting parking spaces on the first level, resurfacing the area around the gate on the first level and repairing cracks.

Softball field upgrades are taking place and will provide new lighting, expansion of the bleachers/press box, a new scoreboard and new netting. Two rec fields, one in the Dickinson Community and the other at College-in-the-Woods are receiving new turf fields. The East Gym tennis courts are being resurfaced and several walkways and some parking lots will be paved ahead of the fall semester. The Tillman lobby in The Union is receiving a fresh look this summer. Work includes resurfacing columns and new work surfaces, flooring and furniture.

At the Health Sciences Campus, construction continues at the Pharmacy R&D building. Most exterior work is complete and the contractor is focused on interior finishes.
