Campus ghost stories and folklore the focus of Homecoming event

A Binghamton University folklorist will discuss campus ghost stories and folklore at the annual TIER Talks event taking place during Homecoming at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Chenango Champlain Collegiate Center (C4) Multipurpose Room, on campus. This event is free and open to the public.

The Lake Lieberman Monster. Sam the Snacker. Charlene the folder of pink laundry. Though not formally enshrined in the University’s history, these characters and others have lived on through stories told to countless students in Binghamton’s residence halls. Elizabeth “Libby” Tucker, distinguished service professor in the Department of English, General Literature and Rhetoric ― will discuss Binghamton University’s rich folklore.

Since the Binghamton University Alumni Association introduced TIER Talks in 2014, the speaker series has leveraged distinguished Binghamton alumni and faculty to address hot topics such as virtual and augmented reality, political polarization and the neuroscience of addiction.

Ample free parking will be available in campus surface lots and the garage.
