International week to highlight college's connections abroad

These events will focus on the global service-learning and civic engagement initiatives at Binghamton University’s College of Community and Public Affairs, and how these education and research programs benefit communities locally and abroad.

All events will take place at the Binghamton University Downtown Center (UDC), 67 Washington Street, Binghamton.

The Challenges of Good Governance in a Counter-terrorism Context: Perspectives and Possible Lessons from Afghanistan and Cameroon

  • Speaker Abdul Waheed Ahmad, Fulbright Student Scholar from Afghanistan and MPA Student
  • Speaker Yongabi Ngoh, MPA student from Cameroon

Come learn more about the challenges facing public administrators in Afghanistan and Cameroon, two countries about which you may know very little or about which you may have many misconceptions. The panelists will focus their attention on how the fight against global terrorism in these countries influence core public administration notions of centralization, globalization, governance, transparency, accountability, and much more. Waheed and Yongabi will share their observations and insights based on personal experience and research, and will welcome questions and conversations.
