Club and Intramural Sports

Even in Binghamton’s chilly temperatures, students can easily #BHealthy, make new friends and get involved on campus by joining Club or Intramural Sports! Overseen by Campus Recreation and the Student Association, these teams accept members, regardless of skill level, on a rolling basis every semester.

For competitive students who are okay with a time commitment, and who want to play against other schools, Club Sports is a great option! Registration for a Club Sports team, like ice hockey, kickline or CrossFit, starts on B-Engaged. For students wanting to enjoy a low-stakes sport, competing against other Binghamton students, Intramurals are the answer! IM Leagues is the place to get started with these recreational teams, like basketball, volleyball or dodgeball.

Campus Recreation

Winter often brings chilly temperatures and shorter daylight hours. It can be tempting to hibernate indoors, but encouraging your student to embrace recreational activities during the winter doesn’t necessarily mean braving the cold. There are plenty of indoor options to explore, like joining the campus fitness center, FitSpace, or trying out Campus Recreation’s fitness classes like yoga, Spin and Pilates.

A spring semester fitness membership gives your student access to FitSpace and group fitness classes at the East Gym, Rec Center. When you purchase a spring semester fitness membership online, the membership is effective immediately and your student will be ready to focus on their fitness goals as soon as the semester kicks off.

Swimming, badminton and basketball are all great ways to stay active while staying warm. These activities are available to your student through Campus Recreation’s open recreation program — no fitness membership required.

For those who enjoy the winter weather, Campus Recreation offers outdoor activities like cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Proper clothing and gear can make these experiences enjoyable, even in the cold. The Outdoor Pursuits program office offers equipment checkout and rentals for your student’s outdoor adventure.

By supporting and encouraging your student to prioritize recreation, especially during the winter months, you’re helping set the foundation for a more balanced and fulfilling college experience. We look forward to seeing students make new connections, while staying active and having fun all semester long!
