A number of Binghamton University’s graduate programs placed prominently on this year’s prestigious U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools list, cementing the University’s position as a leader in graduate education.

The prominent national list includes 19 total Binghamton University programs, with 15 cracking the top 100.

This year’s highlights include big leaps for three programs: occupational therapy (from #159 to #95), education (#130 to #114), and English (#73 to #59).

“Our graduate programs deepen our students’ knowledge and provide them with the advanced skills and knowledge they need to excel in today’s job market,” said President Harvey Stenger. “I’m happy to see so many of our programs make this list – and big leaps up for some really vital ones.”

Each year, U.S. News ranks graduate programs based on business, education, law, nursing and other fields. Rankings are based on statistical surveys of programs and reputation surveys sent to academics and professionals. Some programs are ranked by a unique methodology. For example, “research activity” accounts for 50% of engineering rankings.

Highlights from this year’s rankings include:

“Binghamton’s graduate programs span a wide variety of disciplines and address issues that are vital to society,” said Provost Donald Hall. “This latest ranking confirms that Binghamton is preparing graduates to meet the demands of tomorrow and make a real impact in the world.”
