Some academic and research programs use chemicals or processes that could be hazardous to human reproductive functions. Chemicals and physical agents which have been alleged to pose such hazards include lead, polyvinyl chloride, radiation, estrogen, anesthetic gases, organic solvents and chemicals included in OSHA standards 1910.1002 - 1018, Subpart Z.
It is the policy of the State University of New York at Binghamton to provide facilities that assures the safety of the employees, students, and visitors. It is the obligation of the faculty and staff working with hazardous chemicals or processes to utilize these facilities in such a way as to eliminate hazardous exposures to others.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 does not permit discrimination in employment. It is our policy that employees, staff, and students should not be excluded from any academic or research program based on possible exposure to hazardous chemicals or processes. Proper safeguards must be provided by those responsible for such programs.
