Visiting Assistant Professor, Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention

I grew up in a middle class family in southern England. I moved away from home at 18 years old to perform missionary service for my church in Canada. I then went to live with friends during my undergraduate studies in the US. Since then, I married during these four years, had children and went on to complete an MA and PhD. This was a pathway unfamiliar to my parents just as much as my area of study (peacebuilding and mass atrocity) did not make sense to them. I found my politics diverged from that of my family's as my studies continued. My research interests stretch across these topics to include narrative, identities, decolonization, education, climate change, and central Africa. I love reading (of course), food, film, and the beach. Spending time with my own family is very important to me, so balancing my relationships at home with career stuff is essential. I am an aspiring DJ at WHRW!
