Regional events offer up networking forums for alumni and current students

Current Binghamton University students in the Washington, D.C., region had a chance to invest in their career development while they were home for mid-semester break. The Alumni Engagement Office and campus partners collaborated on an employer visit program and student-alumni networking event similar to what is offered annually in the Metro New York region. Five alumni hosted students at their workplaces in Washington March 6, and about 20 students met with 40 alumni at an evening networking reception. With nearly 3,200 alumni, Washington has the University’s third-largest regional alumni network.

The Alumni Association is increasing its investment in the San Francisco Bay Area, where a reception for the “Best and Brightest” was held March 28. About 50 alumni attended this gathering at Opal in Mountain View, Calif. Upinder Dhillon, School of Management dean and Koffman Scholar, discussed new initiatives at the University, and Joe Tiesi ’86 from the Undergraduate Admissions Office shared how alumni can help the University’s recruiting efforts. Dave Zilberman ’00, managing director of Comcast Ventures, spoke to the group sharing his views on venture capital and innovation.
