Program advising

When you enroll in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program, you will be assigned a professional advisor from Decker College's Division of Advising and Academic Excellence and a faculty advisor from the MPH program.

Professional advisors guide you from pre-admission through graduation. In addition to professional staff, Decker peer advisors have extensive training and are regularly available to answer questions. Professional and peer advisors work together to help students understand admissions requirements, orient to the MPH program, establish a relationship with faculty advisors and progress to graduation in a timely fashion.

Faculty advisors help students develop program plans that support their academic success. MPH students assess their academic progress, skill development and achievement of public health competencies at the beginning of the program and each semester thereafter.

Faculty advisors also provide career guidance and assist with field placements that align with students' professional interests.

MPH students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Students struggling to do so should speak to their faculty advisor about support services.

Students are responsible for scheduling regular meetings with their faculty advisor to assess their progress and should promptly contact them to address any questions or concerns that arise between meetings.
