EcoBlitz Kickoff

10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, Binghamton University Nature Preserve, Lot M1

The Binghamton University EcoBlitz is a community-science event to collect ecological data at a given location and time. EcoBlitz runs through May 4, and the kickoff will feature tours, opportunities to log data and tables from campus and community groups.

The event’s main goal is to unite students, classes, researchers, conservation organizations and community members to document local biodiversity and the environment on campus. The free nature identification app iNaturalist will be used to collect data during this event.

The EcoBlitz event features tours with naturalists and scientists to collect data and a variety of nature-themed activities for all age groups hosted by student groups, research groups and community partners. During Binghamton’s first EcoBlitz event, 200 participants collected 1,162 observations over two weeks.
