Welcome to Residential Life at Binghamton!
- New spring 2025 first-year and transfer students should check in at the Tillman Lobby
located in the University Union on their specified date and at their selected time,
regardless of their housing agreement.
- To learn your specific date and select your time window, check the Housing Portal.
- Click on "Housing Application" and proceed to "Application Status" to select your move-in time on your pre-assigned move-in date.
- Please note you will be selecting your move-in time on your specific date, before you select an on-campus housing assignment in January.
Students returning from fall 2024 may begin moving in after 9 a.m. on Sunday, January 19 and can move directly into their residence hall without checking in.
Move-in information for new-to-Binghamton students
What to bring, what to share and what not to bring
It's easy to overestimate what you need to bring. Keep in mind there are items that are not allowed in the residence halls and other items that you may want to share with your roommates. Here's a list of what’s included in your room, what to bring, what not to bring and what’s prohibited.
Arrival
- Have your Binghamton University ID card available.
- If you don't have an ID card, have a photo ID available.
- ID Card services will be available to print your Binghamton ID card, if you do not yet have it.
- View a campus map to prepare for your arrival.
Unloading your belongings
Once you have completed check-in, you will be directed via campus map to your residence hall’s unloading location. Once you have unloaded your car, you will then be directed to a parking location for the move-in weekend. There will be big, green laundry carts available to load your belongings into. We will have volunteers (B-Welcome Crew) on hand to help on Saturday, January 18.
B-Welcome Crew
Look for our B-Welcome Crew wearing bright green hats who volunteer to assist students and families during move-in on Saturday, January 18.
B-Open
Find out what's open and who to contact during move-in and the first few weeks of the semester. Click here for more information.
We're here to help!
Find support resources and information for any situation on the Dean of Students website. On move-in weekend, call 607-777-2000 or email info@binghamton.edu for assistance.
Don't forget to fill out a Room Condition Report!
Once you're in your room, you will need to submit an online Room Condition Report (RCR) as soon as possible. This documents the condition of the room and furniture at the time of move-in and is used to determine damage billing when you move out. It must be filled out correctly to ensure you will not be held responsible for a pre-existing condition in the room. Check with staff if you have problems submitting this report or need a computer.
B-Welcome events
Join us for activities, events, open houses and fun as we welcome all our students to campus! B-Welcome Week runs from move-in through Jan. 26; find the schedule on this webpage.
