Our Culture of Excellence
By the numbers:
The average Cumulative GPA of SSS Students. Compare that to an average GPA of 2.85 for students eligible for SSS (but not using our services!). That includes the nearly 200 students with a 3.5 or better, and the roughly 30 students with a perfect 4.0 that we have every semester.
The percentage of SSS Students involved in at least one club, activity, or sport while pursuing their college degree.
The amount of grant aid awarded annually to our most dedicated and active first- and second-year participants. These students put in time meeting with our counselors, going to workshops, and attending tutoring among other things.
The number of miles traveled by SSS students to foreign countries as part of education abroad experiences during the 2017-2018 academic year. That's over three times the circumference of the earth!
Out of 957 students to receive the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship nation-wide three of those students were from Binghamton University, and all three were SSS students!
Oluponle "Ponle" Iluyomade
This May, Oluponle, “Ponle” graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences, while on a Pre-medical track. Ponle acknowledges the Student Support Services Summer Program (S4P) for meeting many of his closest friends. Lead the way
Our Student Advisory Board is a group of SSS students who have taken on the responsibility of giving the staff
feedback on events and workshops, as well as perform outreach to participants we haven't
seen in a while.
We also proudly boast that our students find positions as Residential Assistants, Orientation Advisors, Summer Staff, Tutors, Mentors, Interns, Executive Board members of clubs and organizations.
SSS even hosts three internships in-house: Tutors, Mentors, and Communications/Marketing.
