Chosen-name policy

The University's Chosen-name Policy allows students to indicate their chosen first names to the University community.

Move-in days

There are two different move-in days for new students. First-year students who attended the Oct. 22 Orientation will move in Saturday, Jan. 13. All remaining first-year  students attending January Orientation will move in on Friday, Jan. 12.
Residential Life will send more detailed information to students via their Binghamton University email address in December, including selecting your move-in time on your assigned date and more details on activities and events occurring during your first weekend on campus.

Safety is our priority

  • Interpersonal violence prevention: All incoming first-year and transfer students are expected to complete mandatory in-person and online training about interpersonal violence and sexual assault prevention, and bystander intervention. In-person trainings will be held during move-in weekend, and students will be able to sign up for the time slot through B-Engaged. The online program is a course students are added to through Brightspace. Students are asked to complete the online program before coming to campus in preparation for their in-person session.
  • Substance use harm reduction: As a new or incoming student to the University you are asked to review the ATOD training video and complete the short quiz at the end. The video contains information about campus policies; alcohol, tobacco and other drug services; harm reduction strategies, and campus resources. The training is about 12 minutes in length.
