If you’re looking for a common denominator for this year’s TEDxBinghamtonUniversity speakers – they’re all doers. Each has made his or her mark in very different arenas. But whether it’s the world of finance, corruption, sustainable food sourcing, oil, pornography, discovering your true self or hula-hooping – our speakers have something to say or show you!

Organizers

Sofia Degtyar

Sophomore Sofia Degtyar is in her first year as a TEDx organizer. She is the founder of the organization Free English University that she is working on affiliating with Binghamton University to provide students and young career people abroad with the opportunity to practice their English skills with native speakers in the U.S. Sofia freelances doing graphic design and marketing work, and plans to go into non-profit and start-up consulting upon graduation.

Stephanie Izquieta

Stephanie Izquieta is a senior majoring in philosophy, politics and law. She joined TEDxBinghamtonUniversity in 2012 as a sophomore and since then has continued to help organize one of the largest academic TEDx events among thousands in over 80 countries. In 2013, Stephanie founded Binghamton University's Students for Sensible Drug Policy chapter and went on to join SSDP's national board. Prior to joining the Board, she interned at the Drug Policy Alliance in New York City to immerse herself in the drug reform movement, and better her leadership skills. In addition to her drug reform work, Stephanie is a McNair Scholar, Google Student Ambassador, and serves as a board member for the Student Net Alliance.

Gina Kim

Gina Kim is a senior majoring in integrative neuroscience and throughout her time at Binghamton University, she has held various positions and obtained an array of experiences. She was a Public Speaking Lab consultant and intern, VINES volunteer and Stundent Affairs and Strategic Initiatives undergraduate assistant. Along with TEDxBinghamtonUniversity, Gina is coordinating interns for the BU Food Sustainability Group, managing the Student Association INK office and volunteering remotely for TEDxManhattan. Her plans for the future and post-graduation? Find a voice within the food sustainability movement to make a difference and change the way we eat by creating a transparent and just food system.

Stephen Prosperi

Stephen Prosperi is a senior and has developed an individualized major with a focus in finance and marketing of new media. This is his third year as a director of the TEDx program. He is an active member and on the executive board of the Binghamton University Rugby Football Club, and the vice president of the Philosophy of Science Club. Upon graduation, he will begin a position as a financial development analyst with The Depository Trust and Clearing Company (DTCC).
