Giving to Cinema
The Cinema Department at Binghamton University was established in 1970, and it has
a long international reputation in the field of the art of the moving image, focusing
on
Avant-Garde, Experimental, and Personal Cinema.
Students in our program take courses in Cinema Production and Film Studies, developing analytical and production skills. Currently, we are the only department that offers a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree at Binghamton University, which is launching in Fall 2023. Our MFA students are encouraged to explore in depth the formal, historical and cultural meanings of cinema and its components, processes and tools, as a means to better develop creative strategies for self-expression.
What makes a work of cinema far-reaching, expressive and unique, inventive, discerning or effective, will be among the questions that we will raise in an environment fostered by critical and creative thinking—an environment where making something is not only about understanding how to use the tools but how to innovate and how to lead.
Your support allows us to continue to excel in education, research, and creative
endeavor at all levels for both faculty and students. Please consider making a donation
today.
