BINGHAMTON, NY -- The Binghamton University Crew Club will host the sixth annual John McKenna IV Memorial 5K walk/run on Saturday, Mar. 24, at Recreation Park in Binghamton. John McKenna IV was a Binghamton graduate and member of the crew club from 1994-1998. He was killed in combat during his third tour with the U.S. Marines, in Iraq on Aug. 26, 2006. The run is held to remember his indelible spirit and commitment to his team.

Proceeds will benefit the Captain John McKenna IV Military Courtesy Room at the Albany Airport, and the Binghamton Crew Club for future equipment expenses.

The deadline to pre-register is Thursday, Mar. 15. Mail-in registration must be postmarked by Thursday, Mar. 15. Early registrants will receive a McKenna 5k t-shirt at race check-in. The cost for Binghamton University students is $10 and the cost for community members is $15.

Registration cost after Thursday, Mar. 15 is $15 for all participants. Race day registration will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 9:30 a.m. A Children's Fun Run for the 5K will begin at 9:30 a.m. The 5K will begin at 10:00 a.m. with an awards ceremony to follow.
