BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University’s quality and value have once again been recognized by some of the country’s leading publications during this season’s unveiling of annual college rankings and guidebooks.
Binghamton’s most recent recognition comes from U.S. News & World Report, which ranks the University 37th among public universities and colleges, and 89th among all public and private universities in its 2013 listing of “America’s Best Colleges.” Based on a range of excellence indicators, the U.S. News & World Report rankings measure peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and “graduation rate performance.” For more: Click here.
Earlier this summer, The Princeton Review released its “Best 377 Colleges” guide, ranking Binghamton University in fourth place on its “Top 10 Best Value Public Colleges for 2012” list. Binghamton was recognized for being “one of the top public universities of the region” where students become “well-rounded individuals,” who are “globally aware and environmentally conscious.”
In addition, Binghamton was also included in The Princeton Review’s most popular undergraduate major listings by cornering spots on two ‘great school’ for specific majors listings: computer science/computer engineering and environmental studies. Earlier this year, Binghamton was recognized in The Princeton Review’s Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2012 Edition as being a campus for which “green isn’t just a state of mind, it’s a physical landmark.” Binghamton University also features in The Princeton Review’s online review of “Best in the Northeast” colleges. Earlier this year, The Princeton Review also teamed up with RateMyProfessors.com, the highest-trafficked college professor ratings site in the U.S, to create the first comprehensive guidebook to America's top undergraduate professors. The Best 300 profiled outstanding professors at 122 colleges, including two from Binghamton University: Mary Haupt and Jennifer Wegmann. The 2013 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges again refers to the University as one of the “premier public universities in the Northeast,” because of Binghamton’s “outstanding academics and commitment to undergraduates.” Fiske also recognizes Binghamton for having one of the highest four-year graduation rates among public universities and for “writing the rules on how to integrate global awareness and international experiences.” The highly selective guidebook includes more than 300 colleges and universities from 2,200-plus four-year institutions surveyed in the United States. Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine also gave Binghamton the nod, ranking the University among the nation’s best values in public colleges. Coming in at no. 2 for out-of-state students, Binghamton University was recognized for being one of the most affordable universities in the nation for non-New York students. Binghamton was also ranked 12th for in-state students, making it a top buy for New Yorkers.
