BINGHAMTON, NY – Bruce Parmelee, former Iraq deputy country director for Cooperative Housing Foundation (CHF) International, will discuss “Restoration of Civil Society and Basic Human Needs in Post-Conflict Environments: Realities and Lessons Learned,” at the Binghamton University Forum luncheon program, Thursday, Oct. 25. The program will begin at noon with a luncheon buffet at Traditions at the Glen, 4101 Watson Boulevard in Johnson City, followed by the formal program at 12:30 p.m.

Founded in 1952, CHF International serves millions of people each year, empowering them, through conflict and post-conflict development programs, to improve their lives and livelihood for a better future. During his 10-year affiliation with CHF International, Parmalee has served in several positions, including two years as director of global operations for Africa and the Middle East, country director for Iraq, and program manager for various programs in multiple countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kosovo and Liberia. Parmalee will speak about his firsthand experiences with communities in the Middle East, Asia and Africa at the Binghamton University Forum.

Parmalee, a native of the Southern Tier, returned home in June 2012 from an 8-month tour in Ramadi, Iraq, where he managed a community-driven infrastructure development program. He and his wife reside in Chenango Bridge.
