BINGHAMTON, NY – “Transforming the Public Dialogue on Government: 21st Century Challenges and the Role of the Public Sector,” will be the topic of the Binghamton University Forum breakfast program on Tuesday, March 19. A breakfast buffet will begin at 7:30 a.m at the Binghamton Club, 83 Front Street, in Binghamton, followed by the formal program at 8:00 a.m.
Guest speaker Eric Swartz, a public policy expert and former White House and United Nations advisor, earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Binghamton University in 1979. During his 25-year career in public service, his positions have included U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration; UN Deputy Special Envoy for Tsunami Recovery; and Senior Director and Special Assistant to the President for Multilateral and Humanitarian Affairs. In 2011, he was named Dean of the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Policy at the University of Minnesota.
Swartz received his law degree from New York University School of Law, where he was a recipient of a Root-Tilden-Snow Scholarship for commitment to public service through law and his master’s degree in public affairs from the Woodrow Wilson of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University.
