BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Science Cabaret will host a discussion on “Matters of Your Heart,” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Violet Room of the Lost Dog Café. This event is free and open to the public.

Focusing on education for women regarding female heart attack warning signs, symptoms, and appropriate responses, Matters of Your Heart is a program and area of collaborative research between Upstate Medical University, College of Nursing and the Decker School of Nursing at Binghamton University.

Guest speakers will include Binghamton University Professor Pam Stewart Fahs, along with fellow researchers and co-investigators from Upstate Medical University School of Nursing, Melanie Kalman and Margaret Wells.

Heart disease is the #1 cause of death for women in the United States. While overall mortality from cardiovascular disease has been steadily decreasing, heart attack deaths among women 35 to 55 years of age is one of the fastest growing mortality segments and a disparity in the identification of female heart attacks still exists.
