BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University’s sculpture program will host the eighth annual Invitational Iron Pour, throughout the day Friday, April 26, in the sculpture studios located in room 154 of the Fine Arts Building on the University campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Sculpture students and faculty from ten college and university programs including Alfred, Cornell, Cortland, Keystone, Ramapo, Rochester Institute of Technology, Skidmore, Syracuse and Salem Art Works will be in attendance. Over 100 molds will be poured using Binghamton’s two furnaces as well as two others that will be brought in by the invited programs. Independent professional sculptors known for their work in iron will also participate.

The process involves pouring white-hot iron, raised to temperature of more than 2,700 degrees, into special molds to create sculptures.

This event is sponsored by the Rosefsky Memorial Visiting Artist Endowment, the Harpur College Dean’s Office, the University Provost’s Office, Sodexo Campus Services, Greenblott Metal Company, Tonawanda Coke Company, and the Dim Spark SFB fund.
