BINGHAMTON, NY – Public policy expert and former White House and United Nations advisor Eric Schwartz ’79 will speak on “Transforming the Public Dialogue on Government: 21st Century Challenges and the Role of the Public Sector,” at the Binghamton University Forum breakfast program on Tuesday, Oct 1. A breakfast buffet will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Binghamton Club, 83 Front St., Binghamton, followed by the formal program at 8 a.m.               

During his 25-year career in public service, Schwartz has held positions including U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration; U.N. Deputy Special Envoy for Tsunami Recovery; and Senior Director and Special Assistant to the President for Multilateral and Humanitarian Affairs. In 2011, he was named dean of the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Policy at the University of Minnesota.

Swartz holds a law degree from New York University School of Law, where he was a recipient of a Root-Tilden-Snow Scholarship for commitment to public service through law; a master of public affairs degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University; and a bachelor’s degree in political science, with honors, from Binghamton University.
