BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University’s Eating Awareness Committee (EAC), in conjunction with Sodexo, will sponsor a discussion titled, "The Food Environment: Cues that Drive Behavior and Influence Choice," at 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26 in the University Union Old Union Hall. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

Guest speaker Kathryn Hoy, Cornell University Food and Brand Lab researcher and manager of its Behavioral Economics in Child Nutrition Programs (BEN), will discuss how psychology and environment impacts eating behavior. Hands-on activities will teach participants how to be better equipped to identify and deal with the daily traps that can lead toward less healthy dietary decisions. According to Hoy, "Everything from what and how much we eat to whether or not we enjoy it is affected by cues all around us."

The Eating Awareness Committee is a University-wide group that helps students maintain healthful and balanced eating habits so they can sustain their academic and personal development throughout their college years and beyond. The EAC’s mission is to provide education, outreach and resources to both campus and community, as it relates to body image, eating disorders, nutrition and fitness.
