BINGHAMTON, NY – TEDxBinghamtonUniversity will bring seven speakers to the Binghamton University campus at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 30 for an afternoon of inspiring and entertaining talks, as well as performances by student a cappella group, the Binghamton Crosbys. The fourth annual TEDx conference will take place in the Osterhout Concert Theater in the Anderson Center.

This year’s theme, "Stray the Course" promises talks on a wide range of topics from the mathematics of love to the War on Drugs to the greatest spectacle you’ve never seen, and more.

Speakers will include ecosystem ecologist Ben Eisenkop; mathematician and complexity scientist Dr. Hannah Fry; and engineer, blogger, and entrepreneur Jeff Garzik. The event will also feature editor, columnist, and Jezebel.com founder Anna Holmes; Tony and Obie award-winner and Binghamton University graduate Ruben Santiago-Hudson; the New York State director of the Drug Policy Alliance gabriel sayegh; and South-African born engineer, consultant, sportsman and entrepreneur Sebastian Walker.

TED, which stands for technology, entertainment and design, is a nonprofit organization devoted to the notion of ‘ideas worth spreading.’ Started as a conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. TED went on to create TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The TED Conference provides general guidance for TEDx programs, but individual TEDx events, including TEDxBinghamton University, are self-organized.
