BINGHAMTON, NY -- The Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University will host an online Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training short course beginning Tuesday, May 27. The comprehensive exam is due by Friday, June 27.

Lean Six Sigma is a combined process-improvement methodology that accelerates processes, increases efficiency, and reduces or eliminates variation. Companies including GE, Motorola, Allied Signal, and Sun Microsystems, have used Lean Six Sigma to improve their organizations and products and to reduce costs. Attendees will learn about Lean Six Sigma principles and how to apply them in order to achieve and sustain desired performance. This training is also a prerequisite for anyone interested in continuing with Black Belt training offered later in the summer.

This 16.5 hour course is open to all current Binghamton University students as well as alumni, non-Binghamton University students, and members of industry, non-profit and government agencies.

Students or individuals who do not have current knowledge/education in probability and statistics and/or quality control should also enroll in an additional 6 hour prerequisite of instruction that accompanies this training.

Mohammad T. Khasawneh, Ph.D., Associate Professor in Systems Science & Industrial Engineering Department will serve as instructor for this course.
