BINGHAMTON, NY -- Students from Binghamton University’s Summer Youth Musical Workshop will perform "Anything Goes" at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 10, in Watters Theater in the Fine Arts Building on campus.

The musical, with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, tells of madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin aid Billy in his quest to win Hope. The original book was a collaborative effort by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse, heavily revised by the team of Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, with the new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.

The three-week workshop, comprised of theater students ages 12-18, is directed and produced by program director Elaine Laramee, musical director Brenda Dawe, conductor Todd Robinson, director James Everett Lortz, choreographer Yoav Levin and costume designer Kristina Makowski.

The workshop, co-sponsored by the Binghamton University departments of music and continuing education and the Anderson Center for the Performing Arts, has touched the lives of hundreds of youth in Broome and Tioga counties since its inception in 1998.
