BINGHAMTON, NY – Students from the Binghamton University Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) at Binghamton City School District (BCSD) will host the 2nd Annual Community Clothing Giveaway from noon-3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Carlisle Hills Community Center, located at 150 Moeller Street, Binghamton.

LPP students have identified poverty and deteriorating communities as a primary factor for not only violence but also unhealthy behaviors and poor academic performance. A large amount of seasonable and fashionable clothing has been donated for this event, primarily by Fabulous Finds, and is free to all members of the community.

The Binghamton University Liberty Partnerships Program is a collaboration between the University, schools and community agencies that provides support services for 280 students each year in cooperation with the Binghamton, Windsor, Susquehanna Valley and Owego Apalachin central school districts.

The program develops effective strategies and activities that have laid the groundwork for the Academic Interventions Services (AIS) these districts offer as mandated by the commissioner of education. To accomplish this the LPP places full-time, dedicated staff members in the participating school districts to work directly with at-risk youth.

In addition to the full-time staff, Binghamton University graduate and undergraduate students serve as tutors and mentors.
