The Binghamton University Alumni Association will launch its new speaker series TIER Talks: Talks that Inspire, Educate and Resonate during Homecoming 2014. The first installment of the series will take place from 2:15-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the Watters Theater, located in the Fine Arts Building, on campus. This event open to the public.

A panel including several Binghamton University faculty members and one alumnus will discuss the topic "Rethinking Success: Thriving in the Modern World." Speakers will share how the following relate to happiness: better relationships, forgiveness, creativity, mindfulness and avoiding negative self-esteem that comes with focusing on wealth. Audience members will leave with next steps intended to radically change their perspective. A casual reception afterward will provide opportunities to meet the speakers.

Panelists will include:

Kimberly Jaussi, associate professor of organizational behavior and leadership, Binghamton University School of Management; and fellow, Center for Leadership Studies

Matthew D. Johnson, professor of psychology, Binghamton University; and director, Marriage and Family Studies Laboratory

Frederic Luskin ’76, director, Stanford Forgiveness project; co-chair, Garden of Forgiveness Project at Ground Zero in Manhattan; and author of Forgive for Good, published by Harper Collins

Christopher Morgan-Knapp, associate professor of philosophy, Binghamton University

Michael Finkelstein; MD, author of 77 Questions for Skillful Living and founder of SunRaven, a holistic and healing center, will moderate.
