BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University will hold a grand opening celebration for its new Admissions Center from 1:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, on the site of the former Dickinson Dining Hall, on campus.

President Harvey Stenger and Executive Vice President and Provost Donald Nieman will make remarks at 2:15 p.m. Tour guides will be on hand to walk guests around public spaces, including the presentation room and the "green" wall. Refreshments will be served.

The new Admissions Center boasts a presentation room, a classroom, a large lobby, an eco-friendly wall of plants that acts as a biofilter, formal and informal meeting spaces and offices for undergraduate admissions, student accounts, financial aid and student records, and course building.

"Admissions is often the front door to the University, so we’re really excited to be in a new, beautiful spot and invite the campus in to see our new facility and our new presentation space, where we invite close to 40,000 visitors every years," said Director of Recruitment Tom Gaube. "Also, because we have moved and other student services have moved here, we want to allow current students to come and see us and understand where we are now."

The transformation from dining hall to Admissions Center included the addition of 13,000 square-feet to the existing building and gutting and redesigning the rest of the building. With parking set aside for admissions visitors on the top level of the parking garage and the easier-to-get-to location, the new facility is welcoming. Students also painted a path of green paws leading from the garage to the Admissions Center.
