BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University Ice Hockey Club will face-off against SUNY Broome in the First Annual Presidents Cup hockey game at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the SUNY Broome Ice Center.

The Presidents Cup pits ice hockey clubs from both schools against one another. Binghamton University and SUNY Broome have been ice hockey rivals since 1975.

"Ice hockey is a proud tradition at Binghamton University, and we’re excited to celebrate that tradition with the launch of the Presidents Cup," said Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger, who plays on a club ice hockey team.

"Our two institutions work together in many ways. Our students frequently end up as your students, by transferring after they finish their degree here or through the Binghamton Advantage Program. We’re working together on the Southern Tier High Technology Incubator. Our students and faculty participate in research and other projects together," SUNY Broome President Kevin Drumm said. "To this long-standing tradition of cooperation, we would like to add a spirit of friendly rivalry – at least on the rink."

The winner of the game will take home the new Presidents Cup trophy.

Tickets will be available at the event. Students with a valid University ID get in for free. All others will pay $2. The first 100 people through the door will receive a free Presidents Cup T-shirt.

Free shuttle buses will leave from the Binghamton University Union at 5:30 p.m., 6:10 p.m. and 6:50 p.m., and will return starting at 8:45 p.m.
