BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University’s Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshop will present "The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy," sponsored by the Music Department, the Anderson Center and the Center for Innovative and Continuing Education. Auditions will be held Sunday, May 31 and Monday, June 1.
This three-week intensive musical theater workshop runs from July 19 through Aug. 9 for students 12 to 18 years of age. There will be two sessions to choose from, including a morning session from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and an evening session from 6-10 p.m. Each session will feature its own production, culminating in two performances. Optional add-on classes and private voice lessons are also available at an additional charge.
The workshop will focus on individual and group voice training, acting and improvisation classes, movement and dance classes, stagecraft experience, makeup and costumes.
The workshop was founded in 1998 and continues to flourish with the talents of musical director Brenda Dawe, conductor Todd Robinson, director Jim Lortz and program director Elaine Laramee. The workshop has attracted the best theater students in the area and is committed to developing all talent levels in a safe and supportive environment.
