BINGHAMTON, NY - Binghamton University’s fourth annual Innovation Day program will take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the Innovative Technologies Complex, 85 Murray Hill Road, Vestal. The focus of this year’s Innovation Day is the 21st and a half century.

Plenary speaker Matthew Vuille, associate professor of atmospheric and environmental sciences at Albany University, will discuss how climate change will influence everything from healthcare to the design of future cities at 8:40 a.m.

Keynote speaker Kevin Maney, a Newsweek columnist, will deliver his "Anticipating the Future….Just Enough" talk at 1 p.m.

In addition to the plenary and keynote speeches, the day will include presentations organized by Binghamton faculty members participating in the University’s Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence. Topics will address the future of healthcare, smart energy and the environment, just to name a few.

Innovation Day 2015 will conclude with two panel discussions on education. The first panel, at 2 p.m., will feature current undergraduates musing on what college may look like in 2065. The final event will feature University, business and community leaders also discussing the future of education. That panel will feature Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger; James Pitarresi, assistant provost and executive director of the Center for Learning and Teaching; Jason Andrews, superintendent of the Windsor Central School District; and Heather Briccetti ’85, the president and CEO of the Business Council of New York State. Briccetti will offer her views on what business and industry need higher education to do in terms of preparing the future workforce.
