BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University will celebrate mascot Baxter the Bearcat’s back-to-back win of SUNY’s Mascot Madness competition at 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, on campus.

Baxter will march with members of the athletic teams, spirit squads and the University’s student cheering section, the BU Zoo, from the Lecture Hall to outside of the University Union. There he will be presented with the Mascot Madness Cup and everyone will have a chance to congratulate New York’s favorite college mascot.

Through hundreds of thousands of online votes, Baxter was crowned champion of the highly contested SUNY Mascot Madness competition for the second year in a row, edging out SUNY Oneonta’s Red the Dragon in the final round with 7,496 votes. He is the first repeat champion in Mascot Madness history.
